If you’ve ever visited a Waffle House, you’re likely familiar with an unspoken rule of fast food: Do not mess with the staff.

However, this advice isn’t solely for Waffle House. Workers for fast-food franchises of all kinds have seen far too much to deal with your B.S. — and if you test them, they’re liable to strike back.

That’s exactly what happened in a video posted to r/PublicFreakout, in which a customer gets absolutely washed by a Chipotle employee.

To summarize, a man in a gray tracksuit appears to be confronting an employee. When the employee puts her hand out and tells the man to “back up,” he smacks it away. The employee responds by giving the man a clean right swap, causing him to stumble backward.

When this video was first posted two years ago, the OP claimed that his brother was the one who sent him the video, offering some more context in the comments. “The man in the grey jumpsuit was complaining about his food being touched by the same gloves that they were handling cash with and demanded a free meal because of COVID. Apparently, he wasn’t masked up anyway so it was a little ironic,” OP wrote. “Anyway, they didn’t give him a free meal, and out of anger he tossed his food at the sign causing a mess.”

“He attempted to leave but realized he left his phone at Chipotle,” OP continued. “This altercation you see is him demanding his phone back, and I think the employee was trying to alert the authorities.”

Of course, Redditors were quick to support the employee. “Someone grew up with brothers,” joked one user.

“Some people just don’t understand what personal space is. Regardless of what started the situation in the first place, the moment he stepped forward and into her space, he did this to himself. When he reached out to touch her, she didn’t consent, and said back up with a warning shove. Once he slapped her hand away, he did this to himself. There’s a code, respect the personal space,” declared another.

Again, don’t argue with fast-food staff — and if you do, get ready for a brawl.
